About The Book:

The Reaper is the second book in The Dark Verse series written by New York Times bestselling author Runyx. The story follows Morana Vitalio, a talented hacker, and Tristan Caine, the lethal predator, and their intense dynamic. With Morana’s dad betraying her and her growing feelings for Tristan, this time Morana follows Tristan to Tenebrae, the enemy territory. Along with her life being in danger in Tenebrae, Morana finds out some dangerous family secrets, and that the case of the missing girls may just lead them in discovering the darkest secrets of their world. The book explores genres such as enemies to lovers, dark romance, mafia romance, forbidden romance, forced proximity, secrets, found family, trauma, healing, vengeance, mystery, crime, and violence.

Synopsis:

Being the daughter of Tenebrae’s rival boss, Morana’s life is at risk in Tenebrae. It is clear that Tenebrae isn’t very happy to have Morana either, even if they don’t act like it. Deep down, Morana knows there’s somebody who wants to harm her. But now, with their secrets shared a twenty-year-old history hanging in between Tristan and Morana, Tristan Caine is ready to protect Morana at all costs.

Soon afterwards, Morana starts receiving information on the dark web through some unknown person. He starts guiding her and sending her hints, going by the username “The Reaper”. Now, along with uncovering the mystery of the missing girls and what it has to do with the alliance that ended twenty years ago, Morana must find out who the reaper is.

The mafia prince, Dante and Tristan, along with Morana, must now work together to find out about the Syndicate, while uncovering dark secrets that will change their lives forever. They find themselves wondering if there’s love left in their world and whether they’re deserving of it or not. How long will this chaos go on, and will they ever have a chance of finding Tristan’s missing sister?

My Review:

This book lowkey tilted my axis and cracked open my reality, but it was so tragic OMG. My heart stopped when Dante died, only to work again upon knowing it was just a fluke. Because honestly, I wouldn’t even continue the series if he hadn’t lived. Dante plays a pretty big role in this book as compared to the last one.

I really enjoyed Tristan and Morana’s story, and it seems like there was more to them in this book than in the previous one. The ending was so damn amazing. I can’t wait to read more about them in the last book of the series. I will miss them a lot since now the other parts are of the other characters, so it makes me a little emotional to say goodbye to Tristan and Morana temporarily.

I really like Vin a lot too. The Reaper plot was really sick and so thrilling. It got me so hooked and curious. And all that found family trope was really mind blowing. Everything started clicking into place little by little while reading this part. It also felt really nice to see Tristan opening up to Morana more. I also really enjoy the bond Morana and Dante have, just like best friends and siblings.

I loved the part when Morana was in danger, she went to Dante for help, and found comfort in his home and his hug. I absolutely love how he comforted her, and I love her friendship with Amara. Amara’s mom is really sweet too, and there were lots of sweet scenes in this book that I enjoyed reading a lot.

Overall, I am pretty satisfied, and I can’t wait to discover more secrets and the final truth about what’s happening in the upcoming parts. Once again, if you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, dark and mafia romance, then this series is perfect for you, though you might want to heed the trigger warnings first. I give this part a four-star rating once again!

Wrap up:

The Predator was the first part in the series. Dark Verse is a total of six books in the series, with each character having their own story in every book, with Tristan and Morana in the first two parts, The Predator and The Reaper. Amara and Dante are in the third part in The Emperor. Zephyr and Alpha in the fourth part in The Finisher, and Shadowman and Lyla in the fifth part, The Annihilator. The last part, The Syndicator, follows these four couples, every character getting their own chapters, and wraps up the entire Dark Verse Series.

This part was the last story of Tristan and Morana’s, but don’t worry! We will see them again in the other parts too, and we will read their story more in the last part. Don’t drop the series if it’s not interesting yet, because in the later parts it gets even more intense and you’ll find yourself unable to put the book down.
