About Power Tools

The world of power tools is massive, with lots of brands and producers all around the world manufacturing advanced tools that make the human race able to utilize it to do more things in less time. This progress took a long time to happen, though. In fact, the first power tool was not invented more than 13 decades ago.

No person on earth is unaware with power tools nowadays. Working with machines or just having a DIY job around the house that needs doing, you will reach for your power tool and get to work. While we take power tools for granted, our ancestors weren’t so blessed and instead had to deal with manual tools that not only needed great power and more than one person to get a simple job done but were also dangerous.

The invention and development of power tools is an interesting journey that started in ancient times, visited the moon, and transformed lives worldwide.

Power tools must be fixed with guards and safety buttons; they are extremely dangerous when used improperly. The types of power tools are determined by their power source: electric, pneumatic, liquid fuel, hydraulic, and powder-actuated.

Safety tips for Power Tools

These are the general precautions a worker should observe while using a power tool:

- Never carry a tool by the cable or pipe.

- Never pull the cable or the pipe to disconnect it from the holder.

- Keep cables and pipes away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.

- Disconnect tools when not using them, before servicing and cleaning them, and when changing accessories such as blades, bits, and cutters.

- Keep all people not involved with the work at a safe distance from the work area.

- Secure work with clamps or a vise, freeing both hands to operate the tool.

- Avoid accidental starting. Do not hold fingers on the switch button while carrying a plugged-in tool.

- Maintain tools with care; keep them sharp and clean for best performance.

- Follow instructions in the user's manual for oiling and changing accessories.

- Be sure to keep good footing and maintain good balance when operating power tools.

- Wear proper gear for the task. Loose clothing, ties, or jewelry can become caught in moving parts.

- Remove all damaged portable electric tools from use and tag them: "Do Not Use."
