1. Great! I use them all the time while cutting the grass (ughh) and working in my shop (yeah!). People tell me that the background sound is minimal when I am talking to them on the phone and my music sounds pretty good for < $ 100 headset. I was disappointed to find these don't work like most electronic hearing protection. You don't get to hear people speaking to you through the electronics which then shut off the microphone during loud noises. These are just earmuffs with Bluetooth input.
2. That being said, they do an excellent job of noise reduction and the little bit I played with the Bluetooth, it sounded good. They would be great for working in your shop, or listening to music while you shoot (although that seems like it would be distracting!) but not for being able to talk to someone while wearing them.
3. The sound/volume could be better. My need for a product like this is to talk with and/or perform technical support in a noisy factory environment. I've only tested this product in my office so far. The people on the other end of the cell phone conversation "could" hear ambient noises, but not extremely bad. I also tested two others. the one that cost 3 times more did reduce noise better but the headset volume was even lower than the Rifleman device.
